Privacy Policy

FiaskoTown is a place to put silly subtitles on old commercials. We try to collect as little information as possible to make the site work. This page explains what we do collect, why, and how it's used.

What we collect

• Account info you give us — when you register, we store your username, email address, a hashed (one-way encrypted) version of your password, and a display name. Your password is never stored in plain text and we cannot recover it.
• Stuff you create on the site — Fiaskos you make (titles + subtitle text), comments you post, and your thumbs up/down votes on Fiaskos and comments. Your display name is shown alongside this content.
• Cookies for sign-in — when you log in, we set a session cookie so we can keep you signed in across pages. We also use a small anti-forgery cookie to protect forms from cross-site request forgery. We don't use any tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies.
• Server logs — our hosting provider (Microsoft Azure) writes standard web-server logs that include things like your IP address, browser, and the URL you requested. We use these to debug problems and to detect abuse. Logs are kept for a short period and then rotated out.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data. To anyone. Ever.
• We don't run ads.
• We don't load third-party trackers, analytics scripts, or pixels.
• We don't share your email address with anyone outside our hosting provider.

Where your data lives

FiaskoTown runs on Microsoft Azure. Your account info, Fiaskos, and comments are stored in an Azure SQL database. The video and thumbnail files you see are served from Azure Blob Storage. Microsoft acts as a sub-processor for this data; you can read more about how Azure handles data on the Microsoft Trust Center.

Your content is public

Fiaskos and comments you post are visible to anyone who has the link (or who finds them via the Browse feed). Treat anything you post as public — don't put personal information you wouldn't want strangers to read in a subtitle or comment.

Your choices

• Update your info — change your display name, email, or password from Account settings.
• Delete a Fiasko — open My Library and click Delete on any Fiasko you've created.
• Delete a comment — open the Fiasko it's on and use the Delete button next to your comment.
• Close your account — full account deletion isn't self-service yet. If you want your account removed, email the address below and we'll handle it manually.

Children

FiaskoTown is intended for users 13 and older. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change.
